Campus Safety 2014

Posters Series
A small campaign of posters, large-format bus ads, and electronic/web graphics launched during the first few weeks of the Fall 2014 semester at the University of Illinois. The Campus Safety Commission wanted an eye-catching campaign with quick hitting messages to remind students to be safe, know their resources, and stay alert during all activities on campus. I developed several rough ideas to present to the committee and they ended up really liking two of them and ended up using both in the campaign. The first concept featured students around campus doing normal, everyday things with a large "friendly reminder" and then a small caption with specific text about what they could do to keep safe. These graphics were scaled up to large, billboard size ads that were placed on the sides of a couple local buses that moved around campus. The second concept kept the same main message as the bus ads, but highlighted specific situations where students might be vulnerable to various hazards (walking around campus with headphones on) and where they can store important resource information (on their phones). This concept also utilized vibrant, distracting colors to catch attention and several smaller blurbs about safety facts and resources. These graphics were printed out as tabloid size posters and posted around campus and inside of the local, campus buses. Similar graphics for both were also used on various websites and digital signage screens around campus.
